And just like that after this morning's early leaked tease from LEGO themselves, the Danish toy manufacturers have gone ahead and officially announced the latest license in its ever-growing portfolio: LEGO Pokémon. The theme is confirmed to be launching in 2026, becoming one of many LEGO gaming themes and the second theme based on an anime franchise after this Summers brand new LEGO One Piece theme.
The tease, which we got our first look at earlier today, unsurprisingly shows the most iconic Pikachu in brick-built LEGO form. Unfortunately, only his tail is actually shown off but that somewhat tells us that we can expect a range of brick-built Pokémon in this brand-new theme including the likes of Charizard and Eevee which are further well-known and iconic characters from the franchise.
An official LEGO Pokémon page has also appeared on LEGO shop@home which, like the tease on LEGO's social media accounts, doesn't give away any details on the kind of sets we can expect from the 2026 theme. However, to be announced almost a year in advance of its release suggests that big things could be coming from this new license: brick-built Pokémon creatures, iconic locations, exclusive characters and possibly even a Minifigure series? The possibilities are well and truly endless.

"We are thrilled to be working with a brand that has such a deep and passionate fanbase as Pokémon, partnering to give our joint audiences what they have been asking us for," said Julia Goldin, Chief Product & Marketing Officer of the LEGO Group. "We strongly believe that through the endless possibilities of LEGO play and the exciting adventures the world of Pokémon brings, this partnership will create a range of new possibilities for Trainers and builders alike."
"The LEGO Group and Pokémon have strong shared values of imagination, creativity and fun, making this the perfect partnership to deliver unique, meaningful and engaging ways for Trainers to experience the Pokémon brand" shared Gaku Susai, Chief Product and Experience Officer at The Pokémon Company International.
"Working with the best-in-class team at the LEGO Group and seeing their dedication and passion for the project has culminated in an innovative and groundbreaking collaboration that will surprise and delight fans. We cannot wait to see both LEGO fans and the Pokémon community’s reactions in 2026."
LEGO Pokémon is the latest licensed LEGO theme and the first brand-new theme coming in 2026 but what do you think? What kind of builds, characters and Minifigures are you hoping for from this new theme? Is LEGO Pokémon a dream come true? Will the theme be primarily focused at children or adults or a mix of both?
