It's been four years since the release of the LEGO Ideas set 21317 Steamboat Willie but the Disney-themed model will be returning in some form. This is because a miniature version of Steamboat Willie will be releasing next month as a Gift With Purchase online and in LEGO stores. The GWP, under the set number 40659 and the set name Mini Steamboat Willie, will be available from 15th October 2023 for an unknown length of time.
As already mentioned, 21317 Steamboat Willie was first released in 2019 and included both Mickey and Minnie in black and white form. This was because the set was Minifigure scale but 40659 will be a much smaller scale which is actually more similar to the original LEGO Ideas submission. 40659 Mini Steamboat Willie will include 424 pieces, 300 pieces less than 21317, but still includes at least one Minifigure of Mickey Mouse in black and white.
