LEGO Ideas 21355 The Evolution of STEM Officially Revealed | March 2025

After the launch of 21354 Twilight The Cullen House just yesterday, LEGO has now officially unveiled the second LEGO Ideas set of 2025: 21355 The Evolution of STEM. The fan-made set is the winner of the LEGO STEM competition which took place in November 2023. Just under 18 months later and on the 1st of March 2025 fan designer danielbradleyy will see his creation hit shelves retailing for $79.99 / €79.99 / £69.99 with a total of 879 pieces included.

The basis of the 18+ model is a brick-built open book demonstrating the evolution of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) and the genius discoveries, inventions and individuals. In fact, three famous scientists are included in 21355 as Minifigures of Marie Curie, the first person ever to win 2 Nobel prizes; Sir Isaac Newton, famous for his law of universal gravitation; and pioneering agricultural scientist George Washington Carver.

At the centre of the brick-built book is a front desk filled with books and key resources for researching and discovering. There's a chalkboard referencing F=ma, Pythagoras theorem and a potato plant. The left side of the desk includes a microscope and robtoci arm whilst the right includes an extremely old computer reminiscent of Apple's Macintosh from 1984.

Above the desk is a LEGO atom model showing the element carbon with its nucleus and electron orbits. The rear right of the model includes some flower beds including plants such as sunflowers and cotton. A microscale city is located next to this small nature scene symbolising some of the many inventions in urban areas including double-decker buses, aeroplanes and some of the tallest and most iconic buildings in the world.

On the left half of the book is the apple tree which inspired Netwon to discover gravity. A couple of red apples can be seen hanging from this tree with there being plenty of space for the Isaac Newton Minifigure included in 21355 to be sat. A classic car is parked next to the tree demonstrating the beginnings of motorisation.

And finally, we have arguably the most eye-catching part of the set: the double helix DNA strand. This is extremely colourful and can be rotated by using a gear located on the back of the book. The gear also causes the three small models attached to the DNA strand to rotate. A space shuttle, a mini Voyager probe and a bee are these three small yet highly detailed models that complete our brick-built journey through STEM.
