A Minifigures series which it feels like we've known about for many, many months has finally been officially revealed and is the second of three series releasing in 2024. Even before 71045 Series 25 hit shelves we already had leaked images of the next LEGO Minifigures series which was scheduled to be released four months later. But as that release date edges ever closer LEGO has officially presented this next CMF instalment.
The second CMF series of 2024 that we're discussing is the previously rumoured 71046 Series 26. But the collectable LEGO isn't just the 26th numbered series, it's an entire series based on LEGO's recent exploration into Space. The series will include a range of colourful classic Spacemen or Space-themed Minifigures from past LEGO Space themes along with a mix of new ones once it releases on the 1st of May 2024.
A ton of references to LEGO Classic Space, including a Classic Space robot, a retro Spacewoman, an M-Tron redux, an Ice Planet redux accompanied by a Space Penguin, and a mutated Blacktron are included in the series. Alongside these are more modern figures such as an alien in a UFO costume, a grey alien tourist, an alien insectoid, a modern astronaut character, an Orion Minifigure and a Space Nurse.
List of Minifigures
Green Alien in a UFO costume - A new costume in the long list of LEGO Minifigure costumes is this minifigure dressed as a flying saucer. Our Earth is printed on the back of the figure whilst the rest of the body is entirely black with stars. The exclusive green Minifigure head is under a glass dome.
Robot Human Suit for Tiny Aliens - The Minifigure is in a brown suit, controlled by small green aliens, two of which are printed microfigures.
Space Nurse with Pink Space Baby - This space nurse comes with a water bottle to feed the exclusive pink space baby.
Robot Chef - The chef has new legs and a green glass ball on his head. Accessories include a whisk and a cooking pot.
Modern Female Astronaut - This female astronaut dons a suit for space trips to explore the galaxy. The suit has controls, a lamp and a camera.
Grey Alien Tourist - This grey alien with short legs explores the galaxy with his camera. The LEGO Minifigure comes with a Hawaiian shirt, Earth Love shirt, shorts, backpack and hat.
ICE Planet Redux with Space Penguin - ICE Planet 2002 was the name of the series that was introduced to LEGO Space in 1993. The new helmet is a modern take on the old visors that the minifigures wore in 1993. A trans orange chainsaw is also included along with a penguin in the ICE Planet look.
Retro Spacewoman with Dog (female version of Series 17 space Minifigure) - The Retro Spacewoman has a blaster as an accessory. Also included is a robot space mastiff.
M-Tron Redux - The M-Tron Space minifigures came onto the market in 1990, and there is now a replenishment in this LEGO collection series. The legs are printed, and he holds a red gripper for the transport box in his hand and a backpack on his back.
Orian Minifigure - This Minifigure is almost completely translucent with translucent Minifigure elements, hair piece and accessories.
Mutated BlackTron - This minifigure is also a homage to an old LEGO Space theme, this time from Blacktron II from 1991. Not only does a mutated leg protrude from the suit with the Blacktron II logo, but also an additional green arm. The accessories included are two blasters and a breathing apparatus.
Alien Insectoid - The dark blue alien has a special head with spider-like jaw claws. It has a wing element on the back.
The Packaging & Checklist
The second Minifigure series of 2024 coincides with LEGO's recent push for Space in 2024 with plenty of branding on a range of sets in many different themes. That Space branding is further exemplified here in 71046. The continuation of the blind boxes sees eight of the twelve Minifigures represented with a beautiful purple background behind all of the exclusive figures. A slash of grey with the classic space logo can also be seen on the box.
The unique purple for a CMF series continues on the checklist where a couple of hints of pink are also included. The aim of the purple and pink is to create a mystical galaxy far away from our own Milky Way. A small Series 26 logo can be seen in the top right of the checklist along with the twelve to collect sign which has become the norm over the last couple of years.
