2024 marks 25 years since the release of Star Wars: Episode 1 - The Phantom Menace but also 25 years of the LEGO Star Wars theme. Both anniversaries are huge for a franchise that continues to grow and grow so it's no surprise that celebrations for both occasions will be taking place throughout 2024. And the first of these is our first ever LEGO Star Wars 18+ Diorama to be based on one of the prequel films.
In particular, it's the previously rumoured 75380 Mos Espa Podrace Diorama which will retail for $79.99 with 718 pieces. Our first-ever prequel diorama is based on the Phantom Menace and in particular an iconic scene: young Anakin podracing. The brick-built display model captures Anakin and Sebulba’s podracers flying through Arch Canyon as they battle it out to win the race and Anakin to be free from slavery.
In 75380 we're seeing the podrace on Tatooine in brick-built LEGO action. Plenty of Tatooine's scenery and desert-like backdrop are seen along with the Arch Canyon which all 18 podracers fly through. However, only two of the 18 podracers are included in microscale form in this LEGO Star Wars diorama. These are Anakin and Sebulda which can be seen battling it out to finish first in one of Star Wars' biggest races.
With 75380 Boonta Eve Podrace Diorama being microscale, no Minifigures are included and sadly neither are any microfigures of young Anakin for example. But either way, the set is still a must-buy with Tatooine captured perfectly as a display model, blending in well with the colourful creations of the podracers. All of this and more is then on the classic LEGO Star Wars 18+ Diorama black base with the 25 Years of LEGO Star Wars printed piece.
