After the official images of three new LEGO Animal Crossing sets yesterday, this years Gamescon games fair in Cologne has now presented January 2025's lineup of LEGO Super Mario sets. As teased in the Mario Day presentation earlier this year, the brick-built Super Mario sets are now focusing on the plumber's most successful line of games: Mario Kart.
However, the six LEGO Mario Kart-themed sets releasing on the 1st of January 2025 continue to be based on the Digfig/course builder models which we've seen since the themes introduction back in 2020. Still no Minifigures but the sets do add new characters such as Baby Mario and Baby Luigi. The interactive tiles on the different brick-built karts also make the six models compatible with LEGO Mario, Luigi and Peach from their respective starter courses.
72031 Mario Kart - Yoshi Bike
The first of these LEGO Mario Kart sets is 72031 Mario Kart - Yoshi Bike which contains 133 pieces for $14.99 / €14.99 / £12.99. As the name suggests, the main build is a Yoshi-themed bike similar to the one seen in the current Mario Kart game of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe on the Nintendo Switch. A blue Yoshi is also included along with a few blue and red cones, a power-up, a banana peel, a green shell and a red shell.

72032 Mario Kart - Standard Kart
As the name suggests, 72032 Mario Kart - Standard Kart is the perfect introductory set into the LEGO Mario Kart universe as it includes the Standard Kart which you first unlock in the Mario Kart games. This standard kart belongs to Mario, as seen by the many hints of red on the front and on the glider attached to the vehicle. A mechanic Toad is also included along with two interactive tiles for our Digfig characters to explore.

In 72033 Mario Kart - Donkey Kong & DK Jumbo, Donkey Kong makes his second-ever appearance in brick-built LEGO form and is arguably the main selling point of $34.99 / €34.99 / £29.99. He's included along with the DK Jumbo car which is basically a rideable DK barrel. The 387-piece set also includes a green and a red shell along with a target that deploys a banana peel.

72034 Mario Kart - Baby Mario vs. Baby Luigi
Baby Mario and Baby Luigi are the main new characters of this January 2025 wave as both are included in 72034 Mario Kart - Baby Mario vs. Baby Luigi. Both brick built characters have their own respective karts with Baby Mario in a Biddybuggy and Baby Luigi in a Tri-Speeder. The set is complete with plenty of couple of shells and loads of brick built balloons for this game of Balloon Battle.

Two blue toads are included as exclsuive characters in pit crew clothing. They are both working at this garage which includes a workbench amongst many other brick built objects to help fix the karts. A single kart is also included of the B Dasher from Mario Kart 8 Deluxe.

Last but not least we have the biggest set of the wave of 72036 Mario Kart - Baby Peach & Grand Prix Set which retails for $79.99 / €79.99 / £69.99. A total of 823 pieces are included to create three karts and four different characters: Lakitu on his cloud to signal the start of the race, Toad on the standard bike, Lemmy in the Landship kart and Baby Peach in her Wild Wiggler kart. Theres also a starting gate, a podium and a bunch of accessories to create the perfect LEGO Super Mario Kart model.
