LEGO Technic fans are set to have another exciting year with five brand-new sets officially revealed for a 1st of January 2025 release. As with every year, these first sets belonging to the advanced LEGO theme are very much entry sets yet they still bring a diverse range of builds. The more exciting and licensed models will then appear in March and the summer including more Formula 1-based models.
42197 Backhoe Loader
42197 Backhoe Loader is the typical, small entry-level set of each January wave consisting of 104 pieces for just $9.99 / €9.99 / £8.99. A simplified yet functional build is included with 42197 Backhoe Loader having a digger arm and loader bucket, with minimalistic controls suitable for the youngest of LEGO Technic fans.

42199 Monster Jam DIGatron Pull-Back
42199 Monster Jam DIGatron Pull-Back is the first of two sets in this list to be based on licensed Monster Jam vehicles. Both models obviously include a pull-back function along with oversized tyres and a heavy-duty chassis typical of monster trucks. Just like the original Monster Jam DIGatron, the LEGO version with 218 pieces is also coloured yellow and black with plenty of JCB branding.

42200 Monster Jam ThunderROARus Pull-Back is the second LEGO Technic Monster Jam set which is slightly larger with 232 pieces retailing for the same price of $27.99. This monster truck however has very unique styling, inspired by prehistoric themes. The body of the monster basically resembles a tyrannosaurus skull in a red-and-grey colour scheme.

42201 Deep-Sea Research Submarine

The brick-built submarine coloured grey, yellow and blue includes three spinning propellers, an openable cockpit and an extending arm which can be used for deep-sea exploration.
