After the recent LEGO Super Mario 2021 Summer sets were revealed a few weeks ago, it's inevitable that some older sets will soon retire. We now have rough information on LEGOs retirement plan for the LEGO Super Mario theme with our information only being about this year so far.
This is unlikely to change as we're closing in on the end of 2021 but as more sets are released this year and sales for the certain set either increase or decrease, we could see one or two changes. However, we can say that most of the LEGO Super Mario sets that were released last year will definitely have retired by the end of 2022.
The Starter Courses and Maker Sets will be outliers to the rest of the sets and will probably remain on shelves for quite a while as these are the backbones of the theme. Any big D2C sets, like this year's Peach's Castle, will usually last quite a few years and always last longer than the smaller more common sets.
